Former President Donald Trump prevailed in the battleground state of Georgia on Tuesday night, flipping the state back to Republican after narrowly losing it to Joe Biden in 2020.
DecisionDesk HQ and Newsmax declared Trump the winner of Georgia’s 16 electoral votes. With 88% of precincts reporting as of 10:45 p.m. ET, Trump was ahead of Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris 51.2%-48%.
In 2020, he lost the Peach State to Biden by just 11,779 votes. Georgia then became a fight for Trump over election integrity, with the former president challenging the state’s election results. It led to him being charged by Democrat District Attorney Fani Willis, who was re-elected Tuesday night, over allegations of trying to subvert the state’s 2020 election results, though a judge has dropped multiple charges.
