Speaker Johnson to Newsmax: GOP Agenda Ready for Trump

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told Newsmax on Tuesday that congressional Republicans have been preparing a legislative agenda for a year in anticipation of Donald Trump winning the White House, calling it a “very aggressive” first 100 days.

Johnson recounted how in 2017, his first year in Congress, Republicans were not prepared for Trump’s victory because “the people in charge thought that Hillary [Clinton] was going to win.” As a result, “we wasted 2½ to 3 months.”

“So we’ve been preparing for a year now, very methodically. We didn’t put the cart before the horse, but we anticipated that we might well have a win, the trifecta tonight, the White House, the Senate, and the House,” Johnson said on “Vote for America,” Newsmax’s special election coverage.
