Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has defeated Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, in their Senate race to earn a third term.
Newsmax called the race for Cruz with 77% of the precincts reporting and the incumbent holding more than a 9-point lead. Cruz entered Election Day with a 4.4-point lead, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
Cruz held off Allred despite a strong play by Senate Democrats, who spent north of $100 million in support of Allred.
